Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)
EPCs were first introduced in 2007 and became part of the HIP (Home Information Pack) it is a legal requirement to have an EPC in place when selling or renting your home

An EPC gives a potential buyer information about how energy efficient your property is. It also gives advice on how the energy efficiency of a home can be improved and details of how much money this would save.

Domestic Energy Assessment(DEA)
The assessment looks at the age and construction method of your home as well as measuring the floor and wall areas. Assessments are then made of the heating systems, including the boiler (manufacturer, brand and type), heat emitters and controls.

Any existing cavity wall and loft insulation is identified, measured and examined, along with an assessment of the double glazing at the property.

Suggestions are then made on how to save money, eg installation of solar panels and other energy efficient products. A breakdown is given about how much money these changes would save. The home is graded on an easy to understand scale of A to G with A being the most energy efficient and G being the least and the EPC certificate is issued within 24 hours of the assessment.
